REAL ESTATE ATTORNEYS While an attorney is not required in a real estate transaction, we highly recommend utilizing their indispensable services and advice regarding the purchase or sale of your investment. Tax and Real Estate Law are constantly evolving in Mexico and your attorney can help you make the best decisions. They also serve as your personal advocate in transactions, protecting your interests and carefully reviewing transaction documents (normally written in Spanish).
FINANCING Financing is a new option for buyers in Mexico. Until recently, the only financing offered was through developers at a much higher interest rate. Now, this industry can offer attractive interest rates with 25-35% down payment. These companies offer financing on homes/condominiums and pre-sale construction. In addition, construction and developer loans are offered or are in the very near future. All of these companies are new and their services are expanding and changing rapidly. TITLE INSURANCE While title insurance is by no means required for purchase of property in Mexico, we highly recommend its purchase for your peace of mind and security of your investment. Some may argue that the mandatory title search for all land transactions is sufficient, making title insurance redundant and unnecessary. However, errors in this search process are possible and on very infrequent occasions do occur. For this reason, it only makes sense to insure your investment.
